Board of Directors
Jonathan Stevens, President – I am currently in my 17th year in public education. I have spent 7 years as a special education teacher and 10 years as an assistant principal in an elementary school. I’ve run 2 Ultra-Marathons, 4 Marathons and numerous half marathons, 10K’s & 5K’s. When I’m not helping with Sole KIDs, you can find me at Hillside Junior High in the Boise School District as a special education teacher, coaching basketball and/or XC, or just running through the foothills with my colleagues.
I’m excited to be a part of this great team of helping Sole KIDs grow a healthier communities….. and it’s just so much fun.
Karalynn Jensen, Treasurer – I am relatively new to running, and I am learning to really appreciate all the benefits that can come from being a runner. My kids – Ben, Isaac, and Elena – have participated in Sole KIDs and I love seeing how the program has given them confidence to work hard and achieve their goals. I have a B.S. in Accounting from BSU, and I am so excited to be a part of the Sole KIDs team.
Bob Grant, Secretary – Currently, I am in my 17th year in public education. During my career, I’ve served as a classroom teacher, school principal and district level administrator. What has remained constant during my career, is advocacy that schools should be places where the whole child is developed – including physical health. While I am
relatively new to the world of running, I thoroughly enjoy competing in races with my son and have completed a pair of Half Marathons. I truly believe that accountability with a team is the best way to help turn running from a discipline to a desire!
Eric Rausch – Over 15 years of coaching in the Boise Schools, junior high cross country is by far my favorite. From web design to route mapping for my team, I enjoy all aspects of the cross country experience. The camaraderie and inclusiveness where all athletes can find success connects to my core philosophy of community, commitment, and personal goal setting. I would definitely describe myself as an “adventure” runner at heart, always seeking new routes in the hills or in the city. No two days are ever the same.
Gwen Kirkendall – As an avid runner I have had the wonderful opportunity to share my love of running with Jr High students as the Cross Country Coach for over 16 years and a Track and Field coach for over 20 years. Running is something anyone can do almost anywhere. You just have to keep moving. When I am not running I am at my job as a special education teacher.
